Hi! My name is Elizabeth, or Liz for short.
Follow me on Instagram! ( I post cute pictures of my kittens!)
My dad first taught me how to sew when I was around 8 years old. After that, I picked up some tips and tricks from other family members and took a sewing class in high school. I began my stint as a seamstress making quilts for family and friends. It wasn’t until my sophomore year of college that I tried my hand at garment making. I made a very simple skirt that I made far more complicated by not reading the instructions! I quickly moved on from skirt making to costume making. I had been to conventions in the past and had cosplayed using items I bought from goodwill, but had never made my own outfit. During my junior year, I started making basic items for some of my cosplays. Now almost all of my cosplays are costumes I made from scratch! I try to learn something new with every outfit, whether it’s a new stitch technique or working with a new fabric.
I began MariellisDesign during my senior year of college so that I could expand my sewing skills and try my hand at running a business. I design all of our fabrics for the shop and work on developing new items!
In undergrad I majored in Psychology and Business Management. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Psychological Sciences with a concentration in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
If you like what you see and you want to help us maintain the shop, consider buying us a coffee!
